You+Me in Chains

Together, we have said a thousand words

of affection, warm and soft, which we wrapped

around us like blankets. In time these words

sunk into our skins, into our flesh and into our bones

bearing the tattoos of devotion.

Together, we have said a thousand words

of deception, cold and steely, which we kept

hidden inside our hearts and brains like gifts,

Precious lies weaved with our mellifluous voices,

cursing through our blood, sustaining us,

clawing into our senses, gnawing into our consciousness,

syncing with our deepest desires to stay,

to be wanted, to be loved, to be needed,

to be indispensable.

Together, we will say a thousand words

of salvation, of equal damnation, of insanity,

profanity, and eerie tenderness.

Together, we will burn, die, and our words,

The Said and Unsaid, will come back to haunt

our tired, desolate but hungry spirits.

Our souls gliding, not knowing what to do,

what to feel, and what to be in the silence.
